A new week begins, which means we have a new band to feature!
“DEAD SCIENTISTS are a two-piece band now split between Chester and Southampton. Originally formed in 2008 by two university friends, Ross and Dan started the band when having graduated, moved together to the city of Manchester. Inspired by bands like Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, Neutral Milk Hotel and TEXT, as well as vast sci-fi worlds of the X-Files, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and historical mythology – they began to craft conceptual alternative songs. This began with the concept of a fictional second Cold War in a future Soviet-style state.
The band went on hiatus in 2009 with unfinished material and ideas. It took 10 years for them to pick up where they left off – now living in completely different counties in the UK. They immediately began writing and completed their debut album We Will Find the Words. Beyond this – they have continued to write and release more new music (mostly singles) and fully eschew the DIY aesthetic with their own artwork, music videos and development of conceptual ideas about the wider world around them.”
Check out their Bandcamp page. Tomorrow, they will talk about their song “Woodpecker“.
